Calibre is a free and open source e-book library management application developed by users of e-books for users of e-books.

Calibre manages your e-book collection for you. It is designed around the concept of the logical book, i.e., a single entry in your library that may correspond to actual e-book files in several formats.

Calibre can convert from a huge number of formats to a huge number of formats. It supports all the major e-book formats.

Calibre has a built-in editor that allows you to edit e-books in the most popular e-book formats, EPUB and AZW3 (Kindle). The editor has a live preview showing the effect of your changes as you make them and includes a comprehensive checking tool that can find many of the most common errors in book structure and formatting and even fix some of them automatically.

Luna : The next generation of Elementary OS (Free Download)

Lightweight and beautiful. All-new apps. A refined look. 

Mac OS X is definitely one of, if not the most, consistent and aesthetically pleasing desktop OS on the market to date but in order to use it, you still need to get a Mac. If you work on a Windows PC and don’t want to build a Hackintosh, you can try this alternative: Elementary OS Luna.

Elementary OS Luna is a Linux distro based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. It’s the second OS developed by the Elementary OS team after Elementary OS Jupiter (which was based on Ubuntu 10.1)

The Elementary OS team’s focus on minimalism extends beyond Luna’s user interface. Elementary OS Luna comes with only the most basic applications pre-installed.

Amongst these applications are:

• Midori, a web browser
• Noise, a music player
• Geary, an email client
• Shotwell, a photo manager
• Totem, a video player
• Empathy, an internet messaging client
• Scratch, a text editor

On the whole, though, Elementary OS Luna is a good Linux distro that will definitely appeal to users looking for a stable and smooth OS that manages to provide some of Mac OS X’s visual polish and consistent user experience.

Elementary OS Luna will never replace Mac OS X, that’s for sure but, for users who are unable to run the latest version of Mac OS X on their computers, Elementary OS Luna is definitely worth a try.

GOOGLE SCIENCE FAIR 2014

The Google Science Fair is an online science competition sponsored by Google, Lego, CERN, National Geographic and Scientific American.It was announced in January 2011; all entries were due at 11:59:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time on April 7, 2011 and judging occurred in July 2011. The competition is open to 13–18 year old students around the globe, who formulate a hypothesis, perform an experiment, and present their results.All students must have an internet connection and a free Google Account to participate, as the projects are submitted through Google Sites in English, German, Italian, Spanish, or French.The final submission must include ten sections, which are the summary, an "About Me" page, the steps of the project, and a works cited page.

Entries are judged on eight core criteria, which include the student's presentation, question, hypothesis, research, experiment, data, observations, and conclusion.Prizes are awarded to three finalists. The grand prize includes a National Geographic trip to the Galapagos Islands, a US$50,000 scholarship, and an "experience" at a sponsoring organization; finalists will receive a US$25,000 scholarship and assorted packages from sponsoring organizations.While Larry Page and Sergey Brin were PhD students at Stanford University in California, they created Google in January 1996 as a research project; Google employee Tom Oliveri highlighted the company's early days: "Science fairs help students to explore their vision and curiosity through science. Our company was founded on an experiment. We firmly believe that science can change the world," he stated.

Satya Nadella - New Microsoft's CEO

Nadella joined Microsoft, the world's largest software company, over two decades ago. He is only the third CEO after Gates and Steve Ballmer in the 38-year old history of USD 78 billion company.
Nadella played cricket as part of the Hyderabad Public School team.

Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen and billionaire investor and Chairman of Fairfax Holdings Prem Watsa studied in the same school.

Nadella later went to the Mangalore University for Bachelor's in electrical engineering. He has two Master's degrees in computer science and business administration from the University of Wisconsin and University of Chicago.

Nadella, who joined Microsoft in 1992, previously served as the Executive Vice President of Cloud and Enterprise Group.

Before joining Microsoft, Nadella was a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems.

Commenting on Nadella's elevation to the top job, India's largest software services exporter Tata Consultancy Services CEO N Chandrasekaran told PTI: "The world is at the cusp of a massive digital transformation."

He further said: "It is a wonderful time for Satya to take over at the helm of a leading technology company like Microsoft. It is a proud moment and I wish Satya all success."

In the past, TCS has worked with Microsoft as part of a joint venture in China for establishing a currency trading system.

Son of BN Yugandhar, a 1962 batch IAS officer, Nadella is married to his high school sweetheart, Anupama V Nadella.

He finds reading poetries of Indian and American poets relaxing.

Nadella says: I'm a learner. I think the thing that I realised is... what excites me is that I'm learning something... I fundamentally believe that if you are not learning new things, you stop doing great and useful things."

And one gets to know his zest for learning when he says: "I used to fly to Chicago Friday nights, attend classes Saturdays and come back to Redmond to work during the week."

It took him two-and-a-half years, but he finished his Master's degree.

"Just crazy ambitions in the 15 minutes I have in the morning. You know, I'm trying to listen to a neuroscience class or something. I kind of ask myself, why are you doing it? But I love it," he says.
